Bardships for Stephen and Carmen!

We're really excited and immensely proud to share that Stephen and I have been initiated into the College of Bards of Gorsedh Kernow for our ongoing work in promoting Cornish Identity and Culture in Folk Music and Dance respectively.

We went down to Hayle on September 3rd 2022 for the Gorsedh Kernow ceremony in our new robes alongside 17 other new bards. The Gorsedh committee did a great job in compacting the open air ceremony at Hayle Academy into the hall due to the weather. Most of the ceremony was conducted in the Cornish language, with translations in the programme and by the speakers.

We were welcomed into the bardic circle by Grand Bard, Mab Stenak Veur, Pol Hodge, giving us our bardic names Donsyer an Werin (Folk Dancer), and Menstrel Manow (Minstrel from Man).

And here we are with Kathy Wallis, Gwithyades Hengovyow, Keeper of Traditions, who keeps the annual folk customs alive in East Rillaton and beyond, often with our joyful participation.

We thank all the folk that have and will join our workshops and events where we continue to promote Cornish identity and culture through folk music and dance.
